Kanasar: Camping and Trekking


An adventure weekend expedition covering dome camping @ Kanasar lush green deodar forest, trek to Budher Meadows and a glimpse of Miola Caves.

A must do trip for photography enthusiasts, trekking amateurs and folks who would like to experience camping in the midst of a forest atop 8500+ft.

Trek Facts

  • Altitude: Camping @ 8500 Ft
  • Trail Type: Easy gradients. A mixture of Gradual and Steep incline trek going through a thick forest cover and small meadows.
  • Dehradun to Kanasar – 105 km by road
  • Road Head: Buses are available from Anand Vihar ISBT. Take a cab/ local bus from Delhi to Dehradun. Delhi to Pantwari is 335 km (approx.) by road.

Itinerary

Day 00: Delhi- Dehradun

Leave from Delhi (night) and reach Dehdradun (morning) You will need to reach Dehradun on your own. Pickup for this trek will be from Dehradun Railway Station.

Day 01: Dehradun – Kanasar

Drive from Dehradun to Kanasar, freshen up and trek to deoban and back

Jungle Night Hike

Meal Plan: Lunch, Soup & Dinner @ Kanasar Campsite

Day 02: Kanasar to Budher

Trek from Kanasar to Budher post breakfast with packed lunch. Meal Plan:- Breakfast @ Camp, packed lunch.

Trek Fee : 4500 INR per person

Things To Carry

  • Backpack (40 - 45 L)
  • Trekking shoes
  • Sleeping Bag (if using personal)
  • One full sleeve sweater.
  • A full sleeve thick jacket.
  • Thermal inners.
  • Woolen monkey cap/balaclava that cover the ear.
  • Light weight rain coat/poncho (to escape a quick burst of rain).
  • Woolen hand gloves
  • Sun glasses
  • Sun cap and/or head-scarf.
  • Cold cream and sun screen lotion (SPF 40+).
  • Water bottle. Do not get any packaged water bottle like Bisleri, Aquafina and others.
  • Carry a plate, spoon and coffee mug.
  • Torch
  • Personal toilet kit (minimal) and toilet paper.
  • Personal medicine kit.
  • Camera, memory-cards, batteries etc
  • Slippers/sandals (for walking around campsite).
  • While packing, use plastic bags to compartmentalize things and carry few extra plastic bags for wet clothes.
